Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Controls Design Engineer specializing in Robotics to join our innovative engineering team. In this dynamic role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems for industrial robotic applications. Duties
- Lead the design and development of control systems for industrial robotic applications, including Fanuc and other robotic platforms
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems and ladder logic (LD) for robotics automation
- Configure and maintain human-machine interface (HMI) systems to enable operator interaction with robotic controls
- Develop electrical schematics and interpret industrial electrical systems to support robotics integration
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure mechanical and electrical compatibility of robotic systems and tooling
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting on complex industrial equipment, including vision inspection systems and distributed control systems
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by implementing efficient control strategies that reduce waste and improve productivity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees preferred
- Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on robotics controls design
- Strong knowledge of industrial controls including PLC programming (ladder logic), PLC troubleshooting, and PLC system installation and repair
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc robots or similar industrial robotic systems; robot programming expertise required
- Proficiency in programming in engineering environments using ladder logic (LD), structured text, or other relevant languages
- Familiarity with human-machine interface (HMI) configuration, including HMI system setup and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
- Knowledge of industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profibus, or Profinet for system communication integration
- Mechanical knowledge related to tooling, machining processes, and mechanical assembly of robotic systems
- Experience working with vision inspection systems and automation equipment within manufacturing settings
- Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis and engineering troubleshooting in complex automation environments
