About the company

Skip the buzzword bingo, corporate committees, and 100-page manuals. Velox Research is a lean, revenue-backed defense tech shop building hardware and software capabilities for the Intelligence Community (IC). We don’t have layers of management, red tape, or time to micromanage.

We are looking for a Founding Embedded Systems & Edge AI Engineer-someone who loves picking up new hardware, diving into kernel drivers, pulling open-source AI tools off GitHub, and hacking together custom solutions that solve high-consequence national security problems.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Low-Level Linux & Hardware Wrangling: Solve kernel-level compatibility issues, write and configure device drivers, and optimize hardware acceleration across custom x86, ARM, SoC, and RISC-V architectures.
  • Air-Gapped Edge AI Deployment: Take cutting-edge open-source AI/ML capabilities (LLMs, Computer Vision, Vector DBs) and deploy them on ruggedized, offline hardware and Single Board Computers (NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, etc.).
  • Comms & RF Integration: Work with software-defined radios (SDR), RF, WiFi, and cellular communications to integrate data pipelines into field units.
  • Rapid Operator Prototyping: Talk directly with IC clients to understand their raw requirements, translate them into working embedded prototypes, and demo solutions in real-world environments.
  • Lab & Secure Infra Management: Help maintain our local air-gapped lab environments, hardware test benches, and secure networks.
