Job description

Litner + Deganian, P.C. is currently seeking a CIO in the local Emory-Atlanta area to help optimize and elevate the firm’s use of existing and new technologies to better serve its client base and employees. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner, this leadership role will be responsible for learning, optimizing, troubleshooting and expanding the impact of the full technology stack of the firm. The ideal candidate will possess both visionary, strategic-level thinking skills as well as “roll up your sleeves” implementation and maintenance skills in a wide variety of legal technology applications., * Understand the firm’s business goals, business model, operational structure and resources; align the IT infrastructure and roadmap with these elements, ensuring best-in-class support for clients, attorneys, firm managers and legal staff; drive constant improvement of service and efficiency through technology and business innovation.

  • Deploy, optimize, and maintain existing, cloud-based technologies (most of which include AI-based functionalities) such as SmartAdvocate, RingCentral, CaseStatus, Co-Counsel and Microsoft 365 products (among others); balance the ongoing improvement of current technologies with the need to change or adopt new technologies over time.
  • Manage and drive the integration of several core software applications used to manage the practice, enhance efficiency and deliver superior client service; drive system operations results while understanding software from both the user’s and the administrator’s perspectives.
  • Work independently and with the support of IT managed-services vendors to resolve technical issues related to system operations, to minimize downtime and to ensure smooth workflow for legal staff of over 30 users.
  • Liaise with software vendors and service providers to maintain existing assets, address technical issues, identify new opportunities, negotiate contracts, and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive client data, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and legal standards; implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or data breaches; led all data governance efforts of the firm.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, data governance and troubleshooting procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and continuity.
  • Provide training and support to legal staff on using technology tools effectively, including troubleshooting common issues and optimizing usage.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend technological solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency within the law firm.
  • Stay informed on relevant industry trends, regulations and compliance requirements affecting technology operations in the legal industry and in business operations, ensuring the firm’s systems adhere to best practices and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with a team of firm executives, attorneys, case managers, legal assistants and operational resources to build solutions and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive, IT leadership experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
  • 3+ years of direct, systems ops (SYSOPS) experience - legal services, corporate, consulting or agency preferred
  • Exceptional change-management, executive-level communication, negotiation, and strategic planning abilities
  • Strong communication skills - on the phone, via email and in person; communicate with all levels and types of people in a productive, professional and empathetic manner
  • Extremely well organized and detail-oriented, with ability to manage multiple projects across remote teams with competing deadlines
  • Professional and courteous; positive attitude; not taking yourself too seriously
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and proactively anticipate, own and resolve issues; self-starter, quick learner, self-driven, * Bachelor’s (Preferred)

Experience:

  • IT governance: 5 years (Preferred)
  • SYSOPS: 3 years (Required)
