Job description
This full-time exempt position is responsible for teaching courses related to Computer Information Technology., * This position is responsible for individualized instruction in all phases of the Computer Information Technology program and administration of the College’s computer networks.
- Other duties include coordinating curriculum updates, student record keeping, industry and student recruitment, placement and follow-up of program graduates and program budgeting.
- Maintain the installation of the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Email and Internet systems.
- Maintains and upgrades software and computer equipment.
- Investigates and resolves computer software and hardware problems of users.
- Installs and performs repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Answers staff and customer’s inquiries in person and via telephone concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, word-processing, email, Internet and operating systems.
- Provides technical assistance and training to systems users.
- Serve on college committees and represent the college at community events. Performs related work and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in related field. Equivalent relevant full-time experience in the field may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum of five years of experience in the Computer Information Technology field within the last five years.
- Must possess a high degree of knowledge in network administration, PC hardware, systems analysis and software.
- Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ certifications and Microsoft certifications preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred. Post-secondary diploma or A.A.S. in computer information or related field.
- Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices
- Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title VII, Title IX, ADA and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education
- Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills
- Ability to participate as a team member
- Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to adjust to change
- Ability to handle confidential material judiciously
- Understanding of education programs and resources related to technical colleges.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Physically able to lift, stoop, stand and walk to demonstrate and perform all job duties required.
Benefits & conditions
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, education, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents. An Associate Instructor grade has a minimum to midpoint salary range of $51,149 to $61,379.
