Job description

The Design Engineer analyzes customer CNC bending and forming application requirements and designs bend and end forming tooling and fixtures conducive to meet customer tubular component drawings and process requirements. The position utilizes 3D CAD software (Inventor) to generate individual tool/fixture prints and BOM’s on a timely basis. This position may also involve design engineering aspects related to machine designs., · Use of computer aided design (CAD) to develop designs of bend and end forming tooling, fixtures and component products. Drawings must be extremely detailed including dimensions, applicable tolerances, materials, and coatings as applicable;

· Provides production floor and tool assembly support in technical matters relating to assembly drawings, interpretation, engineering change notices, rework manufacturing difficulties, and specifications;

· Lays out bent tubular components per provided X,Y,Z or Y,B,C customer provided data and develops applicable 3D bend tooling models;

· Modifies existing designs to improve tooling productivity or manufacturing process efficiency;

· Completes specific machine design project tasks and assists in machine/tooling customer runoffs as required;

· Responsible for managing engineering data and documentation per company design standards; and

· Additional duties as assigned by manager

Requirements

· Must be proficient in CAD software (Inventor preferred)

· Highly professional oral and written communication skills

· Detailed oriented

· Strong analytical problem solving skills

· Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

· Minimum 5 years tool design experience, preferred tube bending tool design experience.

· Associates technical design degree; Engineering bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Experience with MRP systems and the generation of BOMs.
