Job description

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions for the organization. This role reports to the VP Data Management & Business Intelligence and will work closely with different areas and levels of the business, translating and leveraging our data warehouse solutions into insightful information that could derive into data driven and well supported decisions, support to statistical analysis by the business and accelerate profitable growth for the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement Business Intelligence solutions utilized throughout the company
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate directly with internal stakeholders on a daily basis
  • Solve problems and independently develop high quality solutions by combining knowledge of programming, data modeling and statistics with skillful communication, analytical thinking, presentation and relationship building
  • Actively participate in the Business Intelligence workstream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing, and delivery of solutions
  • Perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms
  • Create and maintain documentation including requirements, design, and user manuals
  • Develop policies and procedures for data provision/visualization and analysis
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to guarantee the data processing workflows align with the data provision/visualization to the end customer
  • Follow BI best practices and its integration and alignment towards our Data Governance program for successful implementation and maintenance of Business Intelligence solutions.

Requirements

  • University degree in computer science, college diploma, technical certification or equivalent relevant academic qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as an advanced BI Analyst/Developer/Engineer
  • Proficient in SQL coding, with special attention to aggregate and window functions
  • Proficient in Business Intelligence solutions including Tableau
  • Proficient in Data Warehouse and ETL solutions including Cloud-Based tools
  • Experience with programming/scripting (Python, Java, Tableau SDK)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills

Preferred

  • Experience in the media industry (not required but desirable)
  • Experience in analysis, programing, technical documentation, unit testing and training. NoSQL experience is a plus.
  • Experience with JSON, XML, CSV and other data formats. Experience with Python is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with Data Modeling and Data Warehouse design (Methodologies: Kimball, OLAP, EDW)
  • Knowledge and experience with AWS ecosystem (EC2, Redshift, S3, Glacier, DynamoDB, Lambda, etc.) is a plus
  • Being able to work as a team-member and with minimal supervision
  • Curious, self-motivated and autodidact, always keeping up to date with the latest ETL/BI tools and technologies
  • Organized, meticulous and quality oriented
