Job description
- Install, configure, deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, and other district-owned computing devices.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and peripheral device issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform hardware repairs including replacement of memory, storage devices, keyboards, displays, batteries, power supplies, and other internal components.
- Prepare and configure new computers according to district standards prior to deployment.
- Install, configure, and maintain district-approved software applications, operating system updates, drivers, and firmware.
- Respond to technology service requests using the district’s help desk system and maintain accurate documentation of all work performed.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues involving district computers and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and support printers, scanners, document cameras, interactive displays, projectors, and other classroom technology.
- Assist with installation, relocation, and configuration of network-connected devices and other technology infrastructure.
- Assist in the deployment, inventory, replacement, and retirement of district technology equipment.
- Coordinate warranty repairs and communicate with manufacturers and vendors as necessary while ensuring compliance with warranty requirements.
- Recommend equipment replacement or upgrades when repair is no longer practical or cost-effective.
- Perform preventive maintenance on district technology equipment to maximize reliability and service life.
- Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation before returning devices to service.
- Assist with district-wide technology deployments, equipment refresh projects, and summer installation activities.
- Assist with maintaining district technology standards for hardware and peripheral devices.
- Educate district staff on proper use and basic troubleshooting techniques to improve technology utilization and reduce service interruptions.
- Follow established cybersecurity practices, including endpoint protection, password security, and proper handling of confidential information.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, employee, and district information in accordance with FERPA, state law, and district policy.
- Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and effective communication while working collaboratively with district personnel.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established safety procedures.
- Comply with all district policies, procedures, technology standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee must possess sufficient physical ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Duties regularly require standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, reaching, and working in confined spaces such as network closets and beneath desks. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, or pull technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally move heavier equipment with assistance. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computers, hand tools, and small electronic components is required. The employee must possess visual acuity adequate to distinguish cable colors, read technical documentation, and perform equipment diagnostics.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in classrooms, offices, computer labs, technology work areas, data closets, and other district facilities. Daily travel between schools and district locations is required. The position may involve exposure to dust, noise, varying temperatures, and construction or maintenance environments while installing or repairing equipment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) Months
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Technology
Pay: $44,941.00 - $63,275.00 per year
Requirements
- Associate degree and technical certification in Information Technology, Computer Repair, Computer Networking, or a related field; OR equivalent professional experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining computers, Chromebooks, and related technology equipment.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, ChromeOS, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace for Education, and basic computer networking concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical problems, provide excellent customer service, and communicate effectively with users of varying technical abilities.
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to travel between district facilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team while managing multiple assignments and meeting established deadlines.
