Job description

Solidus is hiring a Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate high-quality object-oriented applications that support advanced engineering test systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and collaborates effectively within cross-functional engineering teams. You will play a critical part in delivering robust software solutions that enable efficient production, testing, and sustainment operations.

Day in the Life:

  • Design, develop, and integrate object-oriented software applications using C# and C++ in a Windows OS environment
  • Support multiple software development tasks across varying priorities and timelines
  • Troubleshoot software issues, diagnose system-level problems, and support test instrumentation integration
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver complete system-level solutions
  • Develop, define, document, and manage software requirements through the full development lifecycle
  • Create and integrate instrument drivers and hardware interface software for engineering and production test systems (TCP/IP, UDP, serial, GPIB/VISA, DAQs, oscilloscopes, power supplies)
  • Ensure software integrity through debugging, unit testing, and proper configuration management practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Cultural fit amongst a collaborative team environment
  • 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in object-oriented development using C# and C++ on Windows
  • Expertise with Microsoft Visual Studio, including project/solution structures, build systems, unit testing, and advanced debugging tools (breakpoints, call stacks, memory/threads)
  • Experience developing instrument drivers or hardware interface software for engineering test systems
  • Ability to derive, document, and manage software requirements
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies and software configuration management practices
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills across software, instrumentation, and test environments
  • Strong collaboration skills within cross-functional engineering teams

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience integrating software with hardware systems
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and hardware performance optimization
  • Broader understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall)
  • Experience with Java, Python, or Visual Basic as supplementary languages

Benefit selection, customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, and clearance status will influence the final salary.
