The mission of the National Security Division (NSD) is to carry out the Department’s highest priority: to combat terrorism and other threats to national security. The Infrastructure Support and Software Development Services division provides all IT services necessary to support the NSD’s Infrastructure & Operations as well as Software Development, Engineering, and Service Desk.
The Systems Architect establishes system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems. Designs architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. As appropriate, ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models, and profiles of standards - such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of Information Technology Management (ITM) solution of the application platform, across the application program interface (API), and the external environment/software application. Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of work flows, organization, and planning and develops appropriate corrective action.
Responsibilities
- Design and support enterprise and system architecture to unite technologies and project management across common organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
- Establish system requirements and develop business cases based on IT demand.
- Analyze current processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions to modernize and streamline the process.
- Provide a detailed current and future state document outlining networks architecture incorporating network industry best practices and achieving network objectives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Systems/Enterprise Architecture experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; can be substituted with an additional 2+ years related experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience with:
- Designing and testing technical architecture.
- Developing/reviewing code and IT specifications and documentation.
- Defining features, development phases and solution requirements.
- Superior knowledge of coding languages, operating systems, databases and various infrastructure platforms.
- Process optimization and implementation.
- Infrastructure Certifications, plus
- Active Top Secret, required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Candidate must be able to function in general office environment.
