Job description

They are seeking a Data Center IT Engineer to support the day-to-day operation of one of its flagship AI data centres in Newcastle. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the infrastructure powering large-scale AI training, inference, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads across thousands of NVIDIA GPUs within one of the UK’s most advanced AI environments. The role offers the opportunity to join a profitable and rapidly growing organisation that is expanding its AI infrastructure across international markets. Working alongside experienced engineers, the successful candidate will help operate critical infrastructure supporting next-generation AI applications while taking ownership of a highly advanced technical environment.   • Operate and maintain GPU servers, storage platforms and high performance compute infrastructure
  • Monitor the health, availability and performance of production environments
  • Troubleshoot Linux, hardware, networking and infrastructure related issues
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis and service restoration activities
  • Coordinate hardware replacements, maintenance windows and vendor activities
  • Support rack integrations, infrastructure upgrades and capacity expansion projects

Requirements

Skills/Must have

  • Experience within a data center, cloud, hosting, colocation, HPC or large scale infrastructure environment
  • Racking, stacking and cabling experience
  • Hands on experience with enterprise server hardware and storage systems
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, switching and data center infrastructure
  • Experience supporting mission critical production environments
  • Experience working within operational support, infrastructure engineering or data center operations teams
  • Exposure to NVIDIA GPUs, InfiniBand, RoCEv2, AI infrastructure or HPC environments would be highly beneficial
