Software as a Service Release Management Software Engineering Software Coding

Job description

I’m working with a software products company that’s looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead a group of engineering teams and help improve the way software is delivered across the business.

They’re investing heavily in their engineering function, so it’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys improving delivery, developing people and helping teams scale.

This isn’t a hands-on coding role. It’s about leading Tech Leads, keeping delivery on track, removing blockers and making sure releases happen when they should.

You’ll work closely with Engineering and Product leadership, balancing priorities, managing dependencies and helping your teams perform at their best. What you’ll be doing

  • Managing and mentoring a small group of Tech Leads
  • Owning delivery across multiple engineering teams
  • Coordinating releases and ensuring they’re production-ready
  • Working with Product and Engineering leaders on planning and priorities
  • Managing cross-team dependencies and delivery risks
  • Helping develop engineering best practice and delivery standards
  • Supporting hiring and growing high-performing teams

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Engineering Manager or Development Manager
  • Experience leading multiple software engineering teams
  • Strong background in software delivery and release management
  • Comfortable coaching Tech Leads and senior engineers rather than managing day-to-day development
  • A solid technical background with the credibility to challenge and support engineering decisions
  • Experience working within SaaS or software product environments

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary up to £90,000
  • Fully remote working
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Your birthday off every year
  • Summer Fridays during June, July and August
  • Private healthcare
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • £250 annual wellbeing allowance
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Life assurance and income protection
  • Employee discounts, plus Cycle to Work and Home & Tech schemes
