Job description

D-Wave is seeking a Quantum Software Engineer to work on our core software, calibration systems, and tooling for our quantum computers within the Systems Software Engineering department. This team works very closely with our physicists and acts as a bridge between the core software team and our physicists. You will be enabling our physicists in their design and implementation of protocols and then integrate them into our core software platform and quantum computer systems automation.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and other engineers to translate functional requirements into technical specifications and deliverables

  • Implementand extend efficient, reliable, and maintainable back-end systems

  • Collaborate tomodifytooling and core software needed for calibration, protocoldevelopment, experimentation, and automation of our quantum processor operations

  • Write clean, well-documented code, and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues,identifybottlenecks, and implement solutions tooptimizeperformance and improve the user experience, + We look at the future and say “why not”; we see possibilities where others see problems or routines. Requirements

  • Bachelor’sor higher in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, math, physics, or chemistry.

  • 2+ years of hands-on software development experience with Python

  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging using profilers and other tools

  • Competence with version control

  • Knowledge of software testing principles and practices (unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing)

  • Knowledge of quantum API’s (Qiskit, Q#, CUDA-Q, Cirq) andgate basedquantum computing

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and document technical concepts
