Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n

  • Foundational proficiency in at least one modern language used across the AEMS stack (C++, C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript).\n
  • Working knowledge of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, version control (Git), testing, and debugging.\n
  • Exposure to Linux and/or Windows server environments.\n, Prior GE Vernova internship experience, particularly on Grid Software, AEMS, ADMS, DERMS, or Markets products.\n
  • Coursework or project experience in one or more of: power systems, control systems, distributed systems, real-time systems, cloud/Kubernetes, cybersecurity, or data engineering.\n
  • Familiarity with agile development, container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, or observability tooling.\n
  • Interest in the energy transition, grid decarbonization, or the operational software behind bulk electric systems.\n

Benefits & conditions

n Entry-level software engineer on the GE Vernova Grid Software Transmission team, contributing to the Advanced Energy Management System (AEMS) product suite that runs real-time transmission grid operations for more than 230 utilities worldwide. AEMS is the #1 EMS platform globally and serves over 40% of the world’s transmission utilities. The engineer will build, test, and support software that helps operators monitor, control, and optimize the high-voltage grid, including generation dispatch, load balancing, renewable integration, system restoration, and wide-area monitoring.\n \n \nJob Description\n \n \nScope and Responsibilities\n \n

  • Design, implement, and unit-test features across AEMS applications and the underlying Habitat platform (real-time SCADA, network applications, generation control, alarm processing, operator UI, simulation).\n
  • Contribute to modernization work on GridOS: containerized deployments, hybrid cloud/on-prem topologies, federated grid data fabric, and Zero Trust security patterns.\n
  • Participate in agile delivery inside one of the Transmission value stream squads (feature planning, code review, CI/CD, defect triage).\n
  • Work with product managers, systems engineers, and customer support to translate utility operator requirements into working software.\n
  • Support field deployments, factory acceptance testing, and customer issue resolution as needed.\n
  • Grow domain fluency in transmission power systems: state estimation, contingency analysis, AGC/LFC, voltage/VAR control, WAMS, and market interfaces.\n \n, n \nWhy this role\n \n GE Vernova Grid Software is the software backbone of the energy transition. AEMS is the operational nerve center of the transmission grid: the industry’s #1 EMS since the first EMS was invented by our team in 1966. This role is a direct path into that mission, on a team that is actively modernizing the platform to hybrid cloud, AI-enabled applications, and a federated grid data model that unifies transmission, distribution, and DER operations.\n \n GE Vernova offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation. GE Vernova is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law.\n \n GE Vernova will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
