Job description

For our ICT department at our head office in Aalst, we are looking for an experienced Automation Developer who wants to contribute to the further development of automated and scalable ICT platforms and operational processes. In this role within our ICT team, you will work from Aalst on the design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions for our central services, construction sites, and vessels.

You will specialize in scripting, infrastructure automation, configuration management, and DevOps practices, playing a key role in increasing the efficiency, reliability, and standardization of our ICT environment within an international and technically challenging setting. Your Role

The ICT team supports a wide range of challenging business processes at Jan De Nul. Through modern platforms, infrastructure, and automation solutions, we respond to the needs of the business. As an Automation Developer within our team of architects, platform engineers, and administrators, you will be responsible for further developing, maintaining, and supporting automation solutions for our central services, construction sites, and vessels.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Translating and understanding technical specifications and operational requirements.
  • Providing constructive feedback on automation solutions and technical designs.
  • Developing and maintaining scripts, configurations, and automation workflows.
  • Automating infrastructure, platform, and operational processes.
  • Adhering to architecture principles, standards, and guidelines.
  • Performing testing and quality assurance on automation solutions.
  • Collaborating with system administrators, platform teams, and other ICT colleagues.
  • Developing knowledge of infrastructure platforms, cloud solutions, and new automation technologies.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting for automated solutions.
  • Contributing to CI/CD processes, configuration management, and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives.

You will work locally from our ICT organisation in Hofstade/Aalst and can expect a competitive salary and an extensive benefits package, including the possibility of leasing a company car.

Requirements

  • As an Automation Developer, you are passionate about automation and process optimization.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or have an equivalent level of experience.
  • You have experience with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
  • In addition, you have knowledge of automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps, or comparable solutions.
  • You have a good understanding of infrastructure and platform environments, including Windows and Linux systems, networking, cloud platforms, containers, and virtualization.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes, monitoring solutions, Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, and DevOps principles is a strong asset.
  • You are able to interpret technical documentation and designs and actively contribute ideas for improvements and optimizations.
