Job description

Due to continued growth and strong success across our education portfolio, we are expanding our Technical Delivery Team. We are seeking a highly capable Project Engineer to play a key role in delivering complex IT infrastructure, cloud, and digital transformation projects across the education sector. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, structured solutions.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, and delivery of education projects
  • Act as technical authority across project lifecycle
  • Work closely with Project Managers to scope, plan, and deliver technical solutions
  • Design and implement solutions across:
  • Networking (LAN/WAN, switching, wireless)
  • Virtualisation platforms (VMware / Hyper-V)
  • Cloud services (M365, Google Workspace, Azure)
  • Security and backup / disaster recovery
  • Produce clear HLD / LLD documentation and structured handover packs
  • Attend client meetings providing technical leadership and guidance
  • Support and mentor junior engineers, helping uplift team capability

Requirements

Core Experience

  • Strong background as a Project Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer
  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end IT education projects

Technical Expertise

  • Microsoft technologies:
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, Azure
  • Virtualisation:
  • VMware and/or Hyper-V
  • Networking:
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching, firewalls
  • Backup & DR:
  • Business continuity, backup architecture and recovery planning

Desirable Skills

  • Experience delivering cloud migration projects
  • Exposure to education sector environments (schools / trusts), * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Structured, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Commercial awareness in project delivery
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
