Job description
The role of Product Owner acts as the liaison between product and development and is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by agile scrum teams to ensure successful delivery of valuable features and functionality of the product. Works closely with the Product Manager and stakeholders to absorb and understand the ideas and concepts. Responsible for creating features & user stories that convey the expected outcome to development teams.
The Product Owner has strong experience in collaborating with a diverse team. Plays an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of release/sprint goals.
Main responsibilities:
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure requirements are accurately captured and prioritized to ensure successful delivery & adoption
- Maintains a sprint-ready product backlog, balancing new features, defects, and quick enhancements and negotiates with Product Manager for prioritization
- Empowered to make product decisions and actively advises delivery teams
- Ensures that development teams have two sprints of refined backlog that meets the team’s Definition of Done (DoD)
- Translates product vision and discovered requirements into actionable user stories.
- Primary point of contact for questions from the team, clarifying features & user stories and answering questions for delivery teams; become a subject matter expert on assigned product functions
- Collaborates closely with Technical, Testing and Design teams to define exceptional experiences and scalable solutions
- Utilize project tracking tools to maintain and update project information (e.g. Jira and Aha!).
- Ensures clear and comprehensive product documentation, inclusive of functional specifications
- Where appropriate, works closely with off-shore BAs and assist with the elaboration of epics into user stories
- Act as a key stakeholder in release planning and support end user release management and training
- Keeps abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices
- Perform other duties, assignments, and/or special projects as time or circumstances necessitate
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role in product management
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of managing all stages of the product life cycle within an Agile framework
- Experience in e-clinical / as a Product Owner developing payment solutions
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- The ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
- Creative thinker with a vision
