Job description

Summary: The Retail Business Intelligence (BI) & Customer Strategy Lead plays a critical role in advancing how the Retail Sales organization leverages data, insights, and analytics to drive growth with strategic customers. This role serves as a strategic thought leader and subject matter expert in syndicated and customer-specific data, translating complex data sets into clear, actionable insights that inform category growth strategies, joint business planning, and customer engagement. Operating at the intersection of Business Intelligence, Customer Strategy, and Sales Execution, this role will establish the analytical frameworks, tools, and storytelling needed to elevate the organization from transactional selling to insight led, consultative partnerships. The individual will work closely with Retail Sales leadership, account teams, and cross functional partners to embed data driven decision making into short-term & long-term strategy, customer business planning and execution to ensure sales objections are accomplished. This role is a key enabler of Retail Sales transformation, shaping how insights are developed, communicated, and applied in the Retail channel to unlock category growth and strengthen strategic customer relationships. Essential Functions: Business Intelligence & Data Leadership

  • Seve as the primary subject matter expert for syndicated data combined with internal performance data and customer specific insights.
  • Design, evolve, and maintain standardized analytical framework that enable consistent story telling across customers, categories, and initiatives.
  • Transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that support category growth discussions, joint business planning, line reviews, and executive customer engagements.
  • Partner with Sales, Category Management, and Finance to ensure data integrity, alignment, and consistent “one version of the truth” reporting.

Category Strategy & Customer Growth Enablement

  • Help set the strategic foundation for true category management processes within the Retail Sales organization.
  • Support development of JBPs (joint business plans) by identifying growth levers, whitespace opportunities, and risks across core and emerging categories.
  • Provide fact-based recommendations on assortment optimization, pricing architecture, promotion effectiveness, distribution opportunities, and innovation strategy.
  • Elevate customer conversations from products and promotions to outcomes, insights, and category leadership.

Sales Transformation & Capability Building

  • Internal Cross Functional Collaboration Champion! Collaborate closely with Corporate Category Management, Product Management, Finance, Marketing, and Supply Chain to connect insights to execution.
  • Act as a catalyst in evolving the retail sales team from order centric execution to consultative, insight led selling.
  • Develop repeatable tools, templates, and pre-call planning materials that embed data driven thinking into sales routines.
  • Coach and influence sales leaders and account team on how to use insights to tell compelling customer stories and lead strategic discussion.
  • Partner with sales leadership to align analytical outputs to sales priorities, growth targets, and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in syndicated data platforms and experience integrating customer specific data sources.
  • Proven ability to translate data into executive ready insights and strategic growth recommendations.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Benefits & conditions

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $150,000 to $180,000. Trident Seafoods offers a comprehensive and quality benefits package. Full time employees may be eligible for discretionary/performance-based incentives, medical, dental and vision insurance plans, optional HRA/HSA, telemedicine, employee assistance and wellness programs, disability programs, basic life and AD&D, and a 401(k) plan with a company match, paid time off (PTO), 10 paid holidays each year, and paid parental leave. For full-time employees, the initial PTO benefit starts at 20 days per year, adjusted commensurate with relevant experience, front loaded on the first of the year, initially prorated quarterly based on hire date. Commuter programs are also available.
