Job description
Our client is seeking an AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support a large-scale cloud-based engineering computing environment. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and supporting AWS-hosted virtual desktop infrastructure that provides Windows 11 virtual workstations to engineering and business users across the organization.
The environment has undergone a transformation from traditional on-premise engineering workstations to a cloud-based virtual desktop platform, allowing users to access high-performance engineering applications remotely. This engineer will play a key role in supporting the infrastructure that powers over 100 business-critical and engineering applications while ensuring platform stability, performance, security, and availability.
On a daily basis, this person will troubleshoot complex issues involving AWS infrastructure, Windows Server environments, virtual desktops, networking, storage, security, and application connectivity. While software vendors provide application-specific support, this role is responsible for identifying and isolating root causes, determining whether issues originate within the cloud infrastructure, operating system, network, virtual desktop environment, or application layer, and coordinating with vendors when necessary.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring system health, responding to incidents, performing patching and maintenance activities, implementing automation solutions, managing infrastructure changes, and driving continuous improvements across the AWS environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong troubleshooter with deep infrastructure knowledge and experience supporting cloud-hosted end-user computing platforms in a production environment.
