Job description

Tech(x) is seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to support mission-critical systems within a technical lab environment. This role is responsible for administering, securing, and optimizing enterprise Linux systems supporting Army and DoW network operations.

As part of a collaborative and forward-leaning team, you will contribute to system hardening, vulnerability assessment activities, and enterprise service support across a complex, multi-domain environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system administration support for C4ISR DREN Linux environments
  • Manage and maintain C5ISR Linux-based DNS services and enterprise Linux baselines (e.g., CentOS)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain secure system configurations and patch management processes
  • Support network vulnerability assessments in coordination with cybersecurity teams
  • Provide system administration, security, and enterprise deployments
  • Administer and support enterprise infrastructure services, including:

  • Storage Area Networks (SAN)
  • Virtualization platforms
  • Windows-based systems (as needed)

  • Monitor system performance, ensure availability, and troubleshoot system issues
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and authorization requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Demonstrated Linux System Administrator expertise
  • Demonstrated Kubernetes experience
  • Strong understanding of:

  • TCP/IP networking
  • System security and authorization frameworks
  • Server configuration, monitoring, and maintenance

  • Experience with configuration management tools
  • Experience with PKI in a DoW environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with the migration of imaging and patch management from Symantec Ghost to MECM.
  • Building and maintaining images for PXE installation
  • Designing and deploying servers as virtual machines in VMware vCenter
  • Experience supporting enterprise or tactical network environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 / Army IA Technical Level II certification, such as:

  • Security+
  • CASP

Clearance:

  • Current DoW Secret level security clearance or higher.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field (OR)

  • 4+ additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 3-7 years of hands-on system administration experience in Linux environments, * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • This position requires the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in work situations.
  • Must be able to travel by public transportation.
