Job description

The IT Senior Consultant Level 5 - Network Engineer provides highly specialized, advanced technical expertise in support of complex government network environments. This role delivers expert guidance, leads mission critical projects, and develops secure, compliant solutions to address sophisticated IT challenges. The consultant operates under government defined project parameters and supports major phases of large initiatives, ensuring high quality technical outcomes.

Core Capabilities

  • Manages project work as defined by the government.
  • Leads medium to large complex projects and major phases of very large projects.
  • Provides highly technical and specialized guidance and solutions to complex IT problems.
  • Performs detailed analyses, prepares technical reports, and delivers clear presentations to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, and upgrade Cisco networks, including routers, switches, and security appliances.
  • Provide expert support for Cisco Network Security, ASA, and Firepower platforms.
  • Configure and manage Cisco Firepower Device Manager (FDM) and/or Firepower Management Center (FMC).
  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) updates and Software Test & Evaluation (STE) policies.
  • Design and plan network solutions utilizing Cisco Nexus switching platforms.
  • Update, configure, and manage virus protection software and related network security programs.
  • Configure Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) for secure device administration.
  • Utilize Cisco management tools and SolarWinds for continuous network monitoring and visibility.
  • Develop documentation, provide analysis, and deliver briefings to government leadership.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams to support secure, reliable, mission aligned network operations.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
  • One IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP).
  • Technical experience covering:
  • Cisco ASA and Firepower
  • Cisco routers and switches
  • RADIUS configuration
  • Nexus network design
  • STIG/STE application
  • Network monitoring tools (Cisco/SolarWinds)

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED with 20 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree with 15 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience.

Benefits & conditions

  • Support hours: 0600-1800, Monday-Friday.
  • Candidate will work an 8 hour shift within this window.
