AI Engineer Newcastle Upon Tyne (5 days onsite) Salary: £40,000 - £100,000 Were supporting a growing defence technology consultancy building advanced engineering capability across AI, machine learning, and emerging technologies. They are looking for Applied AI Engineers from graduate level through to technical leadership to develop and integrate AI solutions into complex, real-world applications. Youll work on challenging problems where engineering judgement, curiosity, and technical depth are critical. What youll be working on: Integrating AI capabilities into applications and workflows Developing and evaluating LLM-based solutions Building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems Testing, debugging, and improving non-deterministic AI systems Evaluating AI performance, limitations, and risks Applying machine learning concepts to solve complex problems What theyre looking for: Experience with Python and AI/ML technologies Understanding of LLMs, machine learning concepts, and statistical methods Experience with RAG, model evaluation, or AI applications Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability Interest in responsible and secure AI development Experience in defence, national security, AI safety, or constrained environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
