Senior Design Engineer

Job DescriptionLead Design Engineer An established engineering business is looking to recruit a Lead Design Engineer to take ownership of design deliverables across a range of complex mechanical handling projects. This role would suit someone with strong design experience looking for a next step up or someone senior who’s keen for a new challenge. The Role * Lead the design and development of equipment and systems from concept through to manufacture * Oversee 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation * Coordinate design reviews and manage technical interfaces across projects * Ensure all outputs meet industry standards, project specifications, and quality requirements * Support and mentor Design Engineers within the team * Carry out site visits and surveys when required * Drive improvements around safety, DfMA, standardisation, and value engineering What They’re Looking For * HNC, Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline * Strong background in bulk material handling, conveyors or machinery * Experience using Autodesk Inventor and PDM systems (or Similar) * Good understanding of BS 8888 and manufacturing processes linked to heavy fabrication * Confident leading projects and checking technical documentation * Able to manage workloads across multiple projects and support junior engineers Benefits * Salary circa £50k * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with option to buy more * Hybrid working available (typically 2/3 split) * 37-hour week with 1pm finish on Fridays * Flexible benefits package * Employee Assistance Programme * Gym membership and cinema discounts * Long service awards and employee recognition scheme * Contribution towards eye tests and glasses * Regular company social events Please apply if this role is of interest and we will be in touch with more information
