Job description

The Data Analyst position is responsible for working within the Information Technology group, participating in a team responsible for report generation and data analysis utilizing database management software/tools against various database platforms. In this role you will assist & lead in the development of automated reports, analytical and management reports, and data definitions across multiple computing environments. You will develop technical expertise in data mining and report development methodologies, techniques and tools to ensure deliverables meet the needs of both internal and external business customers., Responsible for regularly scheduled reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) for internal and external purposes, as well as ad-hoc reports for internal departments utilizing various DB reporting tools, such as MSSQL, Crystal Reports Enterprise, Power BI, Access, Excel, etc. Develop processes for reports, create wiki documentation and provide training on said processes to satisfy reporting requests and/or to automate manual processes for efficiency and accuracy. Create and implement solutions which may include database objects, custom report design (utilizing SSRS for example) and automation of reporting tasks (via a regularly scheduled MSSQL job calling multiple stored procedures for example). Contribute to the development of project plans and may assign and monitor tasks. Assist in the development and generation of new reports to be provided to senior management across functional departments. Perform other duties as required. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related discipline required. 3+ years of experience in mastering database management software/tools, including proficiency in SQL query building and report writing. Must be proficient with MSSQL stored procedure creation, job creation, and general report automation. Familiarity with advanced MSSQL features (linked servers, dbmail, bcp) to use in automating data delivery, file creation, and notifications. Must be proficient with MSSQL Server tools (SSIS/Integration Svcs, SSRS/Reporting Svcs). Must be proficient with creating and modifying Crystal Reports. Familiarity with Business Objects/Crystal Reports Enterprise Server, scheduling reports. Familiarity with Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) creation/usage. Familiarity with Microsoft Access table creation, queries, macros, forms and reports, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Proficient with MSSQL (2012 or later). Familiarity with Machine Learning concepts like supervised learning, unsupervised learning, algorithms like linear regression and decision trees, and evaluation metrics. Familiarity with ticketing systems used to assign and track work amongst multiple team members. Must be resourceful, industrious, and willing to take on new tasks and proactively learn new technologies to keep up with business needs. Must be able to work under tight deadlines efficiently and with high quality. Must possess strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail. Must be flexible and able to adapt in a changing business environment. Must possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Property and Casualty Insurance experience is preferred. Must be proficient in the following or willing to improve proficiency in these areas:

  • Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Cursory knowledge of programming and scripting languages (.NET C#, C++, Python, etc.).
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Access, Word, Power Point).
  • Database Structure and Design.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
