Job description
To plan, implement, direct and evaluate the implementation and maintenance of laboratory computer related technologies and informatics support for assigned laboratory areas within the UAB Health System: Lab Medicine, Anatomic Pathology, Outpatient Testing and multiple community/remote labs. To direct informatics support for clinical lab-related functions, strategic planning, asset management for IT needs, lab outreach, Lab Medicine, Anatomic Pathology, and Blood Bank IT support. To organize and direct new technological, clinical enhancement projects. To serve as the liaison with multidisciplinary end-users of laboratory information. To ensure the highest standards of quality and regulatory, accrediting and licensing standards. To manage IT-related subordinate personnel. To adhere to all governing policies applicable to laboratory standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Medical Informatics, Business, Mathematics, Medical Technology or related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. MT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
