Job description

Job Description: Job Description Description: CarShield is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join its growing database team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for administering and optimizing our SQL Server environment, ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of critical databases that support our business. You’ll work closely with developers and IT teams to implement high-availability solutions, troubleshoot production issues, maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies, and continuously improve database performance and operational efficiency.Administer and monitor SQL Server instances across our on-premises environmentManage Always On Availability Groups, including failover, replica health, and AG job synchronizationOwn backup/restore strategies and DR testing to ensure RTO/RPO targets are metPerformance-tune queries and workloads via execution plans, DMVs, wait stats, and indexingManage SQL Server security - logins, roles, permissions

Requirements

auditing, and least-privilege enforcementRespond to production incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement durable fixesCollaborate with developers to review schema changes and query patterns before they hit productionMonitor and maintain SQL Agent jobs, including Change Data Capture (CDC)Requirements:5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience in a production environmentHands-on experience administering Always On Availability GroupsStrong grasp of performance tuning - execution plans, index strategy, wait statisticsSolid understanding of SQL Server security, auditing, and access controlExperience with backup/restore, DR planning, and failover proceduresMust be able to work on-site in St. Peters, MO 5 days/weekBachelor’s in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experienceFamiliarity with Extended Events and Query Store preferredExposure to Azure SQL or hybrid cloud environments preferredT/SQL Development when needed for project preferredExperience with data engineering and building data pipelines (ETL/ELT) preferred Pay Rate and BenefitsSalary commensurate with experienceGroup Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, etc.).401k with Employer CarShield policies.Discounted Tuition at Lindenwood University.Professional development opportunities.Basketball, and other recreation available on-site.Fitness facilities, with the option to take classes led by on-staff personal trainer (at St. Peters headquarters).And more!
