Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Serves as the lead contributor for all network and system aspects of IT. Responsible for assessing, designing, upgrading, implementing, integrating, and maintaining the information technology systems. Daily operations include helpdesk support for employees and troubleshooting network and system issues and integrated technologies, including, but not limited to, servers, network equipment, desktop systems, peripherals, internet, phones, third-party applications/equipment, and other computer technology. Proactive future planning for technical solutions, optimizations, guidelines, standards, and procedures., 1. Monitor, assess, and manage IT infrastructure health and storage capacity to detect and prevent potential problems, and provide ongoing maintenance for all network, system, third-party-integrated, or cloud-platform applications and components.

  1. Take a lead role in the development and implementation of information technology strategies and programs that will improve the usability, automation, quantity and/or quality of CLCWA systems and services, including a strategic technology plan.

  2. Diagnosing and troubleshooting any technical issues, bottlenecks, or friction points that arise within an existing system. Recommending strategies to mediate recurring or unresolved issues.

  3. Set up, configure, and maintain all network and system components.

  4. Lead and facilitate training opportunities and/or resources for information management systems.

  5. Creating and maintaining documentation, including maintenance manuals, troubleshooting guides, user instructions, maintenance records, work orders, and purchase orders.

  6. Staying updated with the latest technological advancements and security concerns to evaluate current and emerging technologies to consider the implementation of upgrades for security, portability, compatibility, and usability

  7. Ensure the security of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment. Knowledge of security best practices, including access control, patching, and vulnerability management.

  8. Maintain backup and redundancy strategies.

  9. Provide 2nd and 3rd level support

  10. Work with management to establish and implement short- and long-range department goals, objectives, budgets, policies, operating procedures, and resolutions for operational or security issues.

  11. Help Desk Administration with a heavy emphasis on customer service to employees.

  12. User password and access management.

  13. Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

  15. Hardware and software troubleshooting and deployment to include desktop computers, laptops, printers, copiers, cell phones, scanners, desk phones, and any additional equipment.

  16. IT inventory management with quarterly inventory audits.

  17. Security camera configurations, installations, and maintenance.

Requirements

· Associate’s Degree in IT or related field required. Work experience and/or certifications may substitute educational requirements.

· At least 10 years of direct work-related experience in the field of Information Technology.

· Must possess experience and knowledge of hardware/software maintenance and troubleshooting, and user support, specifically Microsoft Windows Server, with a strong understanding of Microsoft 365 Products.

· Must also have a superior knowledge of LAN/WAN Management skills. Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with VoIP technology, VPN software/devices, Firewall concepts, routers, switches, and platforms.

· Valid TX Driver’s License required, as well as the ability to maintain an insurable driving record.

PREFERRED

· Web Design experience helpful.

.Certifications such as CompTIA, CCNA, or ISC2 are preferred.

REQUIRED ABILITIES

· Must possess effective written and oral communication skills

· Must have excellent interpersonal skills

· Must have problem-solving techniques and organizational skills

· Must be knowledgeable of theory and methods of computer programming and system design including knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, and requirements of multiple information management systems.

· Must be knowledgeable of current industry trends, product research and development, and business or governmental applications.

· Must be able to read, comprehend, write, and utilize technical reference manuals/Standard Operating Procedures; follow oral and written directions; plan and monitor assigned activities; clearly and effectively present ideas, solutions, and/or recommendations; prepare clear and concise reports and instructions; guide and/or direct administration and field staff members to ensure adherence to all policies and security requirements.

· Must be willing to travel to remote office sites within CLCWA boundaries / Clear Lake area. Occasional travel for seminars and educational conferences.

· Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

.On-call duties may be required in times of emergency situations.

· Frequently lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lifts to 90-lbs.

· Must be able to walk up/downstairs and ascend/descend a 20-foot vertical ladder.
