Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement the Java REST API wrapper enabling OpenFGA integration across microservices
  • Lead the technical design for authorization workflows and integration patterns
  • Define engineering standards, API design guidelines, and development best practices
  • Drive sprint planning, code reviews, and major technical decision-making
  • Partner with development, AWS, onboarding, and security teams to ensure alignment and delivery
  • Identify, manage, and proactively mitigate technical risks and dependencies
  • Enforce and champion security best practices for authorization and access-control services
  • Mentor engineers and provide ongoing technical leadership
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements, timelines, and implementation strategy

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams and driving technical delivery
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system design
  • Advanced proficiency in RESTful API design and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization standards (OAuth2, OIDC, RBAC)
  • Experience with modern access-control and policy frameworks: OpenFGA, Zanzibar-inspired models (Ory Keto, SpiceDB), AWS IAM, Casbin, OPA
  • Familiarity with identity platforms: Auth0, Okta, Keycloak, Cognito, Azure AD, Firebase Authentication
  • Proficiency with AWS services and cloud-native development
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Ability to work onsite 2-3x/week in Arlington, VA
