Job description
Bestop designs, engineers, and manufactures soft tops, accessories, and security products for Jeep, Bronco, and off-road vehicles under the Bestop, Softopper, and Tuffy Security Products brands. Our engineering team in Sterling Heights, MI works directly with OEM partners like Ford, GM, and Stellantis, and coordinates closely with our manufacturing facility in Toluca, Mexico., We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented OEM Change Coordinator to join our OEM Engineering team. You’ll sit at the center of how engineering changes move through our business, owning the day-to-day review, coordination, execution, distribution, verification, and documentation of every Change Notice and Engineering Change Request that comes across your desk. You’ll be the quality control checkpoint between Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance, working directly inside our OEM customers’ portals, keeping bills of material current, and making sure the numbers behind every change are accurate before they go out the door.
What You’ll Do

Engineering Change Coordination: You’ll collect and organize the information behind every engineering change, and manage the day-to-day review, execution, distribution, verification, and documentation of Change Notices (CNs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).

OEM Portal Management: You’ll own and maintain change data in OEM customer portals, including e-Supplier Connect, GM Supply Power, Ford Ariba and other customer systems, keeping CNs and ECRs current and accurate.

Bills of Material & Cost: You’ll update bills of material as changes require, collect cost-per-part data from Engineering and Purchasing, roll up price breakdowns, and determine base pricing with markups as ECRs occur.

Cross-Functional Liaison: You’ll serve as the ongoing point of contact between Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, planning, communicating, and coordinating project change activity, and sitting in on Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance meetings as needed.

Process Improvement: You’ll spot and drive improvements that make change and configuration management more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective.

Quality & Compliance: You’ll keep your work aligned with our quality management system and IATF requirements, and support quality and audit activity as needed.

Customer & Supplier Support: You’ll act as a liaison to customer design staff and suppliers, including occasional off-site assignments.
Requirements

You have a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in the automotive field.

You communicate clearly, in writing and in person, and you build relationships easily across teams.

You’re organized, and you manage your time well even when priorities shift midday.

You’re comfortable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

You have some familiarity with project management approaches and tools.

You think analytically, and you work effectively with people at every level of the organization.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment and adjust easily when priorities change.

You pay close attention to detail, and you’re comfortable working in a diverse environment.
Nice to Have

You’ve worked hands-on with OEM supplier portals (e-Supplier Connect, GM Supply Power, Ariba, etc).

You have NetSuite or comparable ERP experience.

You’ve had exposure to IATF 16949 quality systems or audit support in an automotive environment.

You’ve worked with tooling programs, cost recovery, or supplier negotiations.
What to Expect Day to Day
