Software Engineer

We’re looking for a Software Engineer with strong backend development skills and a passion for applying AI to solve complex engineering challenges. In this role, you’ll help build and enhance the platform that certifies Charter’s next-generation network hardware, including cable modems, Wi-Fi routers, fiber (ONU) equipment, and voice/telephony devices.

You’ll work on a highly collaborative engineering team focused on leveraging AI-powered development tools, custom AI agents, and automation to dramatically accelerate software development and testing. What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend software supporting an automated hardware testing platform.
• Build AI-powered automation using internal AI agents and MCP (Model Context Protocol) tooling to accelerate test development.
• Expand automated testing capabilities across networking devices including cable, Wi-Fi, fiber, and voice technologies.
• Contribute to AI initiatives that help engineers diagnose test failures, identify root causes, and improve overall platform reliability.
• Develop inventory and device topology capabilities used to manage thousands of network devices and hundreds of CMTS and OLT systems.
• Own features from design through deployment while collaborating across multiple engineering teams.

• Strong computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
• Professional experience developing backend applications using Java, C++, Go (Golang), Rust, or Python.
• Exposure to AI technologies through professional, academic, or personal projects, including AI agents, LLMs, AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, Google Cloud AI, or similar technologies.
• Experience working in Linux environments; networking knowledge is a plus.
• Self-motivated engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex technical problems, and contributing new ideas.
