Job description

We are looking to recruit an experienced Fluid Mechanical Test Engineer for our Filton based Aerospace client. You will join the Test Centre (1VM) and will act as a test lead on an already running fuel test programme. You will join during the early phases of the test campaign and will work alongside the existing test lead to gain an understanding of the test rig architecture and capabilities, the testing strategy and the test procedures. Once the training phase is complete you will take over as test lead. Please note that this test phase is being run on a double day shift basis and the candidate must be willing to work on the shift rota alternating earlies and lates week to week. The shift week consists of 37.5h, working Monday to Friday (06:00-14:15 & 15:45-22:00).

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the shift test team to prepare and operate the test bench following the relevant test procedure.
  • Ensure all HAZOP, risk assessments and facility procedures are understood by the test team and are followed for each test.
  • Ensure instrumentation and video recording systems are correctly set-up and configured for each test.
  • Capture the required data via instrumentation and when required perform fuel sampling analysis.
  • Support the analysis of the data and formulate this into a technical report.
  • Support the team in troubleshooting activities should the test rig develop issues.
  • Develop new test procedures to fit with the needs of the test plan.

Requirements

  • Proven ability of working in a test laboratory environment.
  • Proven ability of working in hazardous environments.
  • Proven knowledge of systems testing techniques.
  • Background of working with Large, High Pressure, Fluid Mechanical Systems.
  • Familiarity with Hydro Mechanical instrumentation installations.
  • Familiarity with Data logging/Acquisition.
  • Ability to influence and work across disciplinary, organisational & trans-national boundaries.
  • Team spirit and agility.

Additional information:

All candidates must be capable of gaining a Baseline Personnel Security Standard clearance (baseline) prior to starting.

Benefits & conditions

Bristol - 6 month contract - Pay rate £38.89 PAYE basic (£44.54 p/h including holiday pay) or £52.02 p/h Umbrella + 20% uplift for shifts
