The OpportunityAs a Design Engineer, you’ll become an integral part of an experienced engineering team responsible for producing safe, practical and commercially effective temporary and permanent works designs for complex geotechnical and foundation projects.Working closely with operational teams, estimating, project management and clients, you’ll develop innovative engineering solutions from tender stage through to construction, ensuring designs are technically robust, buildable and cost-effective.You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant infrastructure projects while developing your technical capability within a collaborative and highly respected engineering environment. Typical ProjectsYou’ll contribute to major projects including:Large-scale civil engineering schemesHighways and transportation infrastructureRail projectsEnergy and nuclear developmentsMarine and waterfront engineeringCommercial developmentsDeep foundationsRetaining structuresBasement constructionGround improvement worksSpecialist geotechnical solutions Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering DesignProduce innovative geotechnical and structural engineering designsDevelop temporary and permanent works solutionsPrepare detailed engineering calculationsProduce high-quality technical drawings and design documentationEnsure all designs comply with current British Standards and EurocodesReview engineering risks and develop practical mitigation measuresProject SupportProvide technical support throughout project deliveryAssist operational teams during constructionAttend design meetings with clients and project stakeholdersResolve engineering challenges during project executionProvide design modifications where requiredTechnical ExcellenceCarry out engineering analysis and design calculationsDevelop practical construction methodologiesReview third-party information and technical dataEnsure designs are safe, efficient and commercially viableContribute towards continuous improvement initiativesCollaborationWorking closely with:Project EngineersSite TeamsCommercial TeamsEstimatorsProject ManagersClientsExternal ConsultantsSupply Chain PartnersInnovationContribute towards innovative engineering solutionsSupport value engineering initiativesExplore new technologies and construction techniquesAssist with research and development activities where appropriate

About YouWe’re interested in speaking with Design Engineers who have experience within one or more of the following:Geotechnical EngineeringCivil EngineeringStructural EngineeringFoundation EngineeringTemporary WorksGround EngineeringInfrastructureConstruction Engineering You’ll ideally have:Degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent)Previous design experience within construction or civil engineeringKnowledge of geotechnical principles and structural behaviourStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience producing engineering calculationsUnderstanding of relevant design standards and EurocodesCAD experience (AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D desirable)Strong communication and technical report writing skills Chartered or working towards Chartership is advantageous but not essential.What You’ll BringWe’re looking for someone who is: Technically curious Solutions-focused Detail orientated Commercially aware Collaborative Innovative Passionate about engineering Keen to continue developing professionally
