The PC Technician I is an entry-level IT support professional responsible for ensuring classroom technology operates efficiently across the university campus. This role provides hands-on technical support for computers, audiovisual equipment, classroom presentation systems, printers, and related technologies used by faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate is customer-service oriented, enjoys troubleshooting technology issues, and is eager to learn in a higher education environment., Classroom Technology Support Provide first-level support for classroom technology, including: Instructor workstations and PCs Projectors and displays Smart boards and interactive displays Audio systems and microphones Document cameras and lecture capture equipment Video conferencing platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex) Respond to classroom technology incidents and service requests in a timely manner. Perform pre-classroom checks to ensure equipment is functioning properly. Assist faculty with technology setup before classes, presentations, and special events. Desktop & Hardware Support Install, configure, and maintain Windows PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues. Perform computer imaging, deployment, upgrades, and replacements. Assist with inventory management and asset tracking. Customer Service Provide exceptional support to faculty, staff, and students. Explain technical concepts in a clear, non-technical manner. Document support tickets, resolutions, and equipment issues in the ticketing system. Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or specialized IT teams as needed. Preventative Maintenance Conduct routine maintenance on classroom technology equipment. Monitor classroom technology performance and recommend improvements. Assist with technology refresh projects and campus-wide deployments.
Requirements
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Basic knowledge of: Windows 10/11 operating systems Microsoft Office 365 PC hardware and peripherals Basic networking concepts (Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, printers) Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work flexible schedules when supporting campus events.
