Director of Software Architecture

Insight Global is seeking a Director of Software Architecture to define and lead the technical architecture strategy for a large-scale streaming and membership platform. This individual will be responsible for establishing the long-term architectural vision across consumer applications, backend services, content management systems, subscription and entitlement platforms. On a day-to-day basis, they will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, Marketing, Content Operations, and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into scalable and resilient technical solutions. They will drive architecture reviews, evaluate new technologies and vendors, establish engineering standards, and lead modernization initiatives focused on cloud-native services, microservices, event-driven architectures, and platform scalability. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in streaming technologies, cloud platforms, and enterprise architecture while serving as a strategic technical leader responsible for improving system reliability, reducing technical debt, accelerating engineering delivery, and ensuring the platform can support future business growth and evolving customer experiences.

• 12+ years of experience in Software Engineering and/ or Platform Engineering including 5+ years in a senior architecture or technical leadership role
• Proven experience designing and supporting large scale consumer-facing digital platforms within streaming, OTT, SVOD, AVOD, FAST, media, entertainment, subscription, membership, or eCommerce environments
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture, API design, microservices, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, identity and access management, observability, and DevOps/SRE best practices
• Hands-on experience with video streaming technologies including HLS, MPEG-DASH, DRM, encoding/transcoding, packaging, CDN delivery, playback services, player SDKs, and quality-of-experience monitoring
• Experience designing scalable & secure cloud-native architectures that support millions of users and multiple device ecosystems
• Experience establishing architecture standards, reference architectures, reusable design patterns while evaluating architectural tradeoffs across performance, scalability, security, reliability and cost
• Experience with modern engineering practices including containerization, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
• Experience with subscription management, commerce, billing, identity, entitlement, personalization, recommendation engines, loyalty, rewards, customer data, or marketing technology platforms

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with multi-CDN strategies, content steering, edge delivery, low-latency streaming, live event scaling, SSAI/ad tech, analytics instrumentation, and experimentation platforms
• Experience working with third-party streaming vendors, systems integrators, media technology providers, and SaaS platforms
