This is an opportunity to define the backbone of next-generation AI coding agents inside a well-funded, research-driven company operating at the cutting edge of AI and systems engineering. You’ll be working on problems that sit at the genuine frontier of what’s possible with autonomous software engineering, with the resources, funding, and technical caliber of team needed to tackle them properly. If you’re looking for a role where your architectural decisions will shape a category-defining product, this is it. Please apply ASAP for consideration.

About the company

A Frontier AI startup backed by $170m in funding is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to build the distributed backend systems powering autonomous coding agents. This is a rare chance to join at a pivotal stage of growth, working alongside a team that has already assembled some of the most credible technical talent in the industry. The team includes alumni from OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft AI, and NASA, combining deep foundation model work with serious mathematical research. That blend of backgrounds means the engineering culture is shaped as much by rigorous, first-principles thinking as it is by production experience at some of the world’s most demanding technology companies.

This is a hands-on, deeply technical position focused on architecting distributed systems for autonomous agents and building high-performance backend services in Python. You’ll be joining at a stage where the core infrastructure decisions are still being made, giving you significant influence over the architecture that will underpin the company’s product for years to come. You will be designing orchestration and execution infrastructure for large-scale code transformation and will ensure reliability, scalability, and security in production environments. Day to day, this means working closely with researchers and fellow engineers to translate ambitious ideas about autonomous agents into robust, battle-tested systems that can operate reliably at scale, under real-world load, and in adversarial or unpredictable conditions.
