Job description

The Head of Product & Technology is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the product vision, technology roadmap, and execution for Lab Angelus’s platform and related services. This role oversees end-to-end product lifecycle management, from discovery and market validation to launch, iteration, and scale, ensuring the product delivers clear value to labs, clinicians, and life-science partners. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with executive leadership on strategy, guiding product managers and engineers, prioritizing feature development, and managing technical trade-offs to maintain a secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-based network. The role also involves working closely with customers and partners to gather feedback, monitor product performance, and translate insights into actionable improvements. The Head of Product & Technology will foster a culture of technical excellence, data-informed decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration across product, engineering, and commercial teams., Direction of our development partners and our Founding Product Engineer, and the hiring of the team that follows.

  • A Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL platform on Google Cloud, with clinical integration through Redox.
  • Our web presence at labangelus.com and labdispatch.com, and our digital and social marketing channels.
  • The technical architecture of a HIPAA-regulated healthcare platform with a SOC 2 Type II roadmap.

Miscellaneous Details

Remote, with occasional travel to Kansas City (four to six times per year). Approximately 20 hours per week to start. Salary commensurate with experience. Equity participation is available, including the option to trade a portion of base compensation for equity. Grows into a full-time Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role with generous benefits as we scale.

Requirements

Product Strategy and Product Management skills to define vision, set roadmaps, and lead end-to-end product execution.

  • Analytical Skills and Market Research capabilities to interpret data, understand customer needs, and identify market opportunities.
  • Strong Communication skills to align stakeholders, present complex concepts clearly, and build trust across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Leadership experience in managing product and engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Proven track record building and scaling cloud-based B2B platforms or SaaS products, ideally in healthcare, diagnostics, or life sciences.
  • Solid understanding of software development practices, system architecture, and data security/compliance (e.g., HIPAA or similar frameworks).
  • Comfort working in a remote, fast-paced, and ambiguity-tolerant environment, with strong ownership and execution discipline.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Product Management, Business) or equivalent practical experience.
