Job description

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to support a growing federal law enforcement program focused on modernizing mission-critical applications and data-driven capabilities. This role will be responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise software solutions supporting complex operational and analytic requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in object-oriented software development and experience designing scalable applications using modern programming languages and cloud technologies. This position offers the opportunity to work on an evolving data-centric environment leveraging advanced analytics, large-scale data processing, and automation to support high-impact national security missions., Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications supporting mission-critical operations. Develop new application capabilities and enhance existing systems through custom software development and third-party component integration. Create scalable and maintainable solutions that support large-scale data processing and analytics workloads. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs and production-ready solutions. Participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including planning, requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment. Implement automated processes and tools to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and system maintainability. Support application modernization initiatives through cloud-based and service-oriented architectures. Conduct code reviews and contribute to development standards, best practices, and technical governance efforts. Lead technical discussions involving system architecture, integration approaches, and software design decisions. Assist with project planning activities, resource estimation, and technical milestone reviews. Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and integration challenges. Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership across development teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 4 years of professional software development experience. Experience with at least one of the following technologies: Java Python C# AWS Cloud technologies Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns. Experience developing, testing, and deploying enterprise applications. Knowledge of software development methodologies and Agile practices. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders., Experience developing applications in cloud environments, particularly AWS. Experience supporting large-scale data processing, analytics, or data-intensive applications. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and distributed systems. Experience with automation, scripting, and DevOps methodologies. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, source control management, and automated testing frameworks. Experience leading technical teams or mentoring developers. Prior experience supporting federal government, law enforcement, intelligence, or national security programs.
