Job description

We are seeking a hands-on contract developer to take ownership of our SQL Server batch processing systems. In this individual contributor role, you will be instrumental in supporting and enhancing business-critical data pipelines and scheduled jobs.

This contract requires a professional who can make an immediate impact with minimal ramp-up time. Your primary focus will be on execution, system stability, and operational reliability, ensuring our data architecture runs seamlessly to support core business functions.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and enhance SSIS-based SQL batch jobs, ETL processes, and data movement pipelines.

Optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures to improve performance, scalability, and system reliability.

Monitor batch job execution, troubleshoot batch failures or data issues, and perform thorough root-cause analysis.

Produce and maintain clear documentation for delivered work, including SSIS packages, batch logic, and data flows.

Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, production support teams, and full-time engineering staff to ensure smooth operational deployments.

Requirements

5 years of software development experience.

Practical experience with SSIS package development, support, and SQL-based batch jobs.

Experience with SQL Server, including writing complex queries, developing stored procedures, and performance tuning.

Experience utilizing .NET / C# for backend processes or batch workflows.

Experience supporting and troubleshooting scheduled or automated jobs in a production environment.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with enterprise job schedulers (e.g., SQL Agent, Control-M, Autosys).

Experience managing, supporting, or modernizing legacy batch jobs.

Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

Experience working within financial services or similarly regulated environments.
