Job description

This engineer will operate in a highly dynamic Air Force modernization environment, supporting both classified and unclassified network infrastructures. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site surveys, designing network solutions, and leading installation efforts across wired, wireless, broadband, and ISP/OSP environments. The role requires hands-on technical execution in routing, switching, and security, as well as collaboration with cybersecurity teams to enforce Zero Trust principles. The engineer will also be responsible for documenting architectures, supporting network cutovers, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to automation initiatives. Approximately 25% travel is required to support site deployments and assessments.

Requirements

Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of enterprise network engineering/architecture experience OR High School/Associate Degree with 10+ years managing large DoD networks

  • Strong experience with:
  • Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)

  • Enterprise switching technologies VLANs, VRFs, QoS, multicast, high-availability protocols

  • Network security and segmentation
  • WAN and remote connectivity solutions
  • Experience with Cisco or equivalent enterprise networking platforms
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to support implementation, testing, and operational transitions
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • DoD 8140 IAT II Certification (Security+ CE or SSCP)
  • CCNA Certification
