Job description

As a Data Engineer, you play a key role in designing, implementing and managing the infrastructure of our self-service Snowflake Data Platform. You ensure that the infrastructure can scale with growing data needs, remains robust under heavy load and strictly complies with security requirements. The organisation is being set up to work according to data mesh principles, and the data platform supports this way of working. You stay up to date with the latest developments and how they could be applied. You work closely with the team and users to ensure that all platform processes run smoothly and are optimally supported. With your expertise in Snowflake, dbt, Azure and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), you help build a future-proof platform for data-driven decision-making. Your responsibilities

  • Design & implementation: You build and maintain a robust cloud infrastructure that enables our data organisation to operate at full strength. Your choices in architecture, security and automation have a direct impact on the performance and reliability of the platform.
  • Optimisation & scalability: You ensure that the infrastructure is scalable, secure and reliable.
  • Automation: You implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Monitoring & management: You manage, monitor and test the infrastructure to ensure stable operations.
  • Advice & innovation: You research and implement innovative solutions that make the platform more efficient, secure and faster. You are given the freedom to test and apply new technologies that take the infrastructure to the next level.
  • Collaboration: You work closely with other Data Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Cloud Engineers and security experts to continuously improve the platform. Your department You will become part of the IT Data Infrastructure team within PGGM Investment Management. This team consists of 10 colleagues and manages and develops the data platform that serves as the central hub for data exchange, modelling and analytics. This platform forms the foundation for data-driven decision-making within the organisation and is continuously improved and expanded to meet the growing needs of the business. In addition, our team is responsible for managing the SimCorp Dimension data warehouse, the Risk Datastore and Crystal Reports. The team follows a DevOps way of working: we build it, we run it!   • Data platform knowledge: Snowflake and dbt (must have).
  • Scripting & automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
  • Version control & CI/CD: Git, Azure DevOps (Repos & Pipelines).
  • Azure Cloud expertise: Compute, Networking & Storage.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell.
  • Containerisation: Kubernetes. What you bring

  • Higher professional education or university level, through education or experience

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and/or affinity with asset management
  • 4 - 10 years of experience in a similar role/function
  • Experience in drafting implementation plans and translating requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills (at least C1 level in Dutch and English).
  • Business analysis skills to translate stakeholder needs into concrete infrastructure solutions.
