Job description
We are looking for an experienced Principal Project Manager to join a busy Capital Delivery & Infrastructure team, leading the delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital projects across housing, environmental, climate change, coastal engineering and property programmes.
Working closely with colleagues, contractors and key stakeholders, you will manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and in line with strategic priorities.
This is a varied role where you’ll be managing multiple projects at once, preparing business cases, managing risks and budgets, and building strong working relationships across a range of services.
Regular travel across South Hams and West Devon will be required to attend site visits, inspections and project meetings., * Lead and manage a range of capital and infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery.
- Prepare project plans, business cases and project documentation.
- Manage project budgets, risks and delivery programmes.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance and ensure objectives are achieved.
- Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior management.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, health & safety requirements and organisational policies.
- Carry out site visits, inspections and attend project meetings across the region.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience delivering complex capital or infrastructure projects.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience producing business cases and managing project risks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Strong IT skills, including experience using project management software.
- A relevant qualification or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable
- Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, APM or equivalent).
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Experience within local government or the public sector.
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, environmental or net zero programmes.
