Working on high-profile ETCS on-board projects, you will play a key role in delivering cutting-edge signalling solutions that support the future of rail transportation.Based primarily at the clients site in Derby, with some hybrid working available, this contract offers a minimum 8-month duration, competitive day rates (negotiable depending on experience) and is paid outside the scope of IR35.The OpportunityAs an ETCS Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering key systems engineering activities throughout the early stages of the project lifecycle. requirements are translated into robust technical solutions that meet operational, performance and safety requirements.You will be instrumental in the development of ETCS on-board systems, managing system requirements, technical interfaces, train data and configuration activities while supporting successful project delivery across multiple programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesCapture, analyse and manage customer requirementsDevelop and specify system requirements and product requirementsProduce system and subsystem designs and technical specificationsManage technical interfaces between ETCS systems, Train Design Authorities and internal/external design teamsCapture and validate train dataProduce and manage ETCS configuration dataSupport system integration activities and subsystem integrationAnalyse and evaluate technical solutionsWork within configuration management and change control processesSupport configuration and continuous improvement of integration test rigsProduce estimates for systems engineering activitiesProvide regular progress reporting to project stakeholdersContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practiceMaintain awareness of emerging technologies and developments within ETCS and railway systemsSupport personal and professional development towards recognised engineering accreditationAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:EssentialDegree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Science or a related technical disciplineStrong knowledge of ETCS products and onboard systemsExperience of ETCS product data and configuration processesExcellent understanding of the systems engineering lifecycleProven experience working within the UK rail industryExperience working to industry quality and safety standardsKnowledge of railway technologies and their practical applicationExperience applying railway and ETCS standardsAbility to manage technical interfaces across multidisciplinary teamsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsDesirableExperience working with safety-critical systemsUnderstanding of project delivery methodologiesExperience contributing to process improvement initiativesLocationThis role is primarily based at the clients Derby site, with occasional travel to Chippenham as required.
