Job description
We now have an opportunity to recruit an Embedded Software Test Engineer to join our team based in Edinburgh, UK. As an Embedded Software Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software powering next-generation control units for Digital Displacement Pumps. Your work will help drive innovation in mobile machinery applications across construction, agriculture, and off-highway industries. You will join a collaborative team focused on developing advanced embedded technologies that improve efficiency and deliver real-world value for customers worldwide. By strengthening software quality and automation, you will contribute directly to products that make operations smarter and more sustainable.
This is an opportunity to combine your expertise in embedded systems, software verification, and test automation while influencing how high-quality software is delivered across the product lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Verification and validation of complex real-time control algorithms
- Creation and maintenance of Continuous Integration test-environments
- Design and implementation of automated system tests
- Establishing vital quality gates for the software release process
- Tool-assisted documentation in a version control management process
- Improving test reports and dashboards to be shared with software developers and stakeholders

Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a siumilar related discipline, alongside strong knowledge in the field of embedded systems and embedded software
- Experience in testing embedded software using state-of-the-art test automation methodologies, preferably in Python
- Fundamental understanding of source code written in the C and C++ programming language
- Good understanding of Continuous Integration test strategies, such as Software Unit TestsEase of handling hardware debug tools such as debuggers (JTAG), protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc
Advantageous would be experience with:
- Microsoft Azure DevOps, incl. pipelines
- Automation of product integration through scripting, i.e. Python or pyTest
- Code Coverage Measurement
- Requirement Management tools, i.e. Siemens Polarion ALM
- CAN communication and higher layer CAN protocols, e.g. J1938
- Version Control Management, i.e. git
