Job description

Reporting to the Chief Systems Engineer, the Senior Systems Engineer contributes to the successful delivery of programme objectives by applying systems engineering best practices within a modern “new space” development environment. The role works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support system architecture, requirements management, integration activities, and verification efforts, while balancing technical rigor with development agility. The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of agile systems engineering approaches that enable iterative development, rapid testing, and continuous improvement, while ensuring alignment with programme requirements, schedule, cost, and performance objectives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS System Architecture & Engineering

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the end-to-end architecture for the meoSphere network, including the space segment, ground segment, network orchestration platforms, and 5G core integration.
  • Support the development of system requirements, operational concepts (CONOPS), and performance budgets.
  • Participate in architectural trade studies related to constellation design, payload capabilities, network architecture, and ground infrastructure.
  • Support major system engineering review preparation and execution (e.g SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR milestones).
  • Ensure engineering solutions align with system scalability, resilience, service performance, and operational requirements.

Agile Systems Engineering & Development

  • Apply agile systems engineering principles to support iterative development and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the integration of hardware, software, and network systems across the programme.
  • Support requirements traceability, verification planning, and configuration management activities.
  • Contribute to prototyping, testing, and demonstration activities, including field and on-orbit validation where applicable.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with satellite engineering, network engineering, spectrum and regulatory, and software development teams, as well as external partners.
  • Facilitate effective feedback between design, integration, and operational teams to support product maturity and performance improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and project teams as needed.
  • Support the development and use of systems engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Contribute technical input to programme reviews, technical discussions, and stakeholder engagements.

Programme Support & Risk Management

  • Identify and assess technical risks, issues, and dependencies within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Support the evaluation of architectural trade-offs and engineering decisions.
  • Ensure engineering activities remain aligned with programme milestones and objectives.
  • Assist in resolving technical and interface issues across engineering disciplines.

Requirements

The Senior Systems Engineer provides technical expertise in the architecture, development, integration, and validation of the meoSphere satellite constellation and its end-to-end communications network. The role supports system level engineering activities across the network ecosystem, including the communications ground segment, network orchestration systems, 5G core network integration, and satellite constellation., * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 5-10 years of systems engineering experience within aerospace, telecommunications, satellite communications, or related technology industries.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex technical programmes.
  • Experience with satellite communications systems, including LEO, MEO, or GEO architectures, ground segment infrastructure, network architectures, and systems integration principles.
  • Experience with telecommunications networks and networked systems, with exposure to OSS/BSS, network orchestration platforms, and/or 5G Core technologies.
  • Experience using systems engineering and requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, Flow, DOORS or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting system integration, verification, validation, and testing activities across complex systems.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies and modern systems engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with New Space approaches, including commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies, iterative development methodologies, and rapid testing practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and contribute to engineering decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams., * Direct experience in satellite communications programmes, including network integration, communications payloads, ground segment development, or satellite operations.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced development environment employing agile or iterative delivery models.
  • Familiarity with systems modelling, digital engineering, or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.
  • Experience supporting field demonstrations, operational trials, or on-orbit validation activities.

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • Eligibility for a “SECRET” security clearance, in accordance with the national regulations as well as EU/ESA/NATO equivalents is an added plus
  • Willing to work 60% onsite from office
  • Travel as required for project realization purposes
