Job description
We’re seeking a Software Engineer to update and maintain the industrial software systems that keep our multi-site manufacturing operation running. This role is the technical backbone of our plant-floor data infrastructure - you’ll develop and support SCADA/MES applications built on Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform, administer the MySQL databases behind our operational and business systems, and build internal web tools that connect it all together.
This is a fast paced position. You’ll work across multiple production sites and company divisions, supporting everything from real-time machine data collection to timecard, payroll, and inventory systems. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and self-motivation.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Ignition applications (Perspective/Vision) across multiple gateways serving several manufacturing sites
- Design and manage tag structures, UDTs, device connections, and gateway configurations
- Administer MySQL databases supporting operational, inventory, and business-critical data - including schema design, stored procedures, query optimization, backups, and migrations
- Build and maintain internal web applications and dashboards (React) deployed to modern hosting platforms (Vercel or similar)
- Integrate plant-floor devices (PLCs, drives, sensors) with higher-level business systems
- Troubleshoot production issues across the stack - from device communication to database performance to UI bugs
- Document systems, write clean maintainable code, and support long-term reliability of the environment
Requirements
Required:
- Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition (Perspective, Vision, gateway administration, tag/UDT design, scripting in Python/Jython)
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on MySQL administration experience (queries, stored procedures, performance tuning)
- Solid programming fundamentals - Python and/or JavaScript
- Ability to troubleshoot independently across hardware, network, database, and application layers
- Comfort working directly with operations, maintenance, and business stakeholders
- Highly self-motivated and capable of driving projects to completion with minimal direct supervision.
Nice to Have:
- Front-end development experience with React and modern deployment workflows (Vercel, CI/CD)
- Familiarity with industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
- Experience with MySQL version upgrades/migrations
- Ignition certification (Core/Gold)
- Manufacturing, MES, or controls industry background
