Firmware Engineer, Connected Warfare

The Connected Warfare team builds, deploys, and scales modern command and control capabilities like the Menace Family-of-Systems. As the firmware engineer closest to the hardware, you are the critical link between Electrical Engineering and the rest of the software stack. You will own the end-to-end firmware for systems like Menace-I-from initial board bring-up and driver development to system-level integration and field testing-solving the toughest technical challenges at the hardware-software boundary

You’ll be building the foundational embedded software for the Connected Warfare team. As a generalist firmware engineer, you’ll be responsible for bringing new hardware to life - writing real-time microcontroller code, developing reusable device drivers for sensors and peripherals, and debugging the gnarly, cross-disciplinary problems that live at the boundary of hardware and software. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Electrical Engineering team on some of the most complex autonomous systems being built today.

What You’ll Do

• Develop low-level firmware/software for microcontrollers, create reusable device drivers, integrate system-level features and architect changes to support an ever-growing codebase
• Quickly debug and troubleshoot issues that span the electrical, firmware, and software boundaries

• BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience
• Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
• Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
• Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments
• Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring up and debugging
• Some familiarity with common bus protocols such as Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, etc.

• U.S. Persons status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data

• Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
• Debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, Oscilloscopes, and Logic analyzers
• Have a bias for action. If you see a problem, you want to solve and fix it
• Be naturally curious about the technologies and tools you use

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
