Senior Backend Java Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Java Developer to support a large-scale retail checkout modernization initiative. This individual will design, develop, and support backend services and APIs that power POS, checkout, order management, payments, receipts, and other critical retail transaction workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include building microservices, developing integrations between enterprise systems, participating in solution design discussions, creating technical documentation, supporting testing efforts, troubleshooting defects, and partnering with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering mindset, experience working in high-volume transaction environments, and the ability to support projects through development, testing, release readiness, and production stabilization.

7+ years of Java development experience in enterprise environments -Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices -Experience building scalable backend services and distributed systems -API integration experience including authentication, validation, error handling, and service orchestration -Experience supporting retail POS, checkout, payments, order management, or other high-volume transactional systems

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Retail checkout modernization experience -Swagger/OpenAPI and API governance experience -Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native technologies, Looper, Concord, WCNP, or KITT -SonarQube, Snyk, and engineering quality/security tooling
