Job description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support a mission-critical defense program focused on submarine command, control, communications, computers, cyber-defense, and intelligence (C5I). This role supports Systems Engineering and Intelligence efforts within a highly secure environment.

This position is based onsite in Manassas, VA and follows a standard 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule., * Support network integration across a variety of protocol standards

Analyze and troubleshoot network configurations, including:
VLANs and spanning tree
Static and dynamic routing protocols
Access Control Lists (ACLs)
IP addressing and subnetting
Utilize packet analysis tools such as Wireshark or similar tools
Diagnose and resolve network performance issues in complex environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system integration

Requirements

Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be maintained)
U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance eligibility)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years of relevant professional experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with network protocols and technologies such as:
TCP/IP, HSRP/VRRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP
RSTP (802.1w), MSTP (802.1s), DHCP
VLAN tagging (802.1q), multicast
EtherChannel (PAgP/LACP), QoS
Active-active technologies (vPC, IRF)
Experience designing and implementing complex or high-performance computing networks
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Familiarity with network hardware vendors such as Cisco and Arista
Knowledge of high-speed networking (1/10/25/40/100 Gig), optical standards, and satellite/serial links
Experience with Linux operating systems, SNMP, Python, or Bash scripting
Understanding of TCP/UDP packet structures
Exposure to Software-Defined Networking (SDN), including OVS
Familiarity with Kubernetes and VxLAN
