Job description

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and continuously improve security measures to protect the organization’s data, systems, and networks.
  • Troubleshoot security incidents and network-related issues.
  • Respond to and investigate system and network security incidents.
  • Ensure organizational data and infrastructure are protected through the implementation of appropriate security controls.
  • Participate in the organization’s change management process.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and identify network and system weaknesses.
  • Perform daily administrative tasks, documentation, reporting, and communication with appropriate departments.
  • Promote operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Support and maintain network architecture and client/server technologies.
  • Assist in planning, leading, and implementing district-wide technology and cybersecurity projects.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

We are seeking to hire a Cybersecurity Engineer with an analytical mindset and a thorough understanding of cybersecurity principles and methodologies. The Cybersecurity Engineer is expected to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and consistently meet tight deadlines.

To be successful in this role, the Cybersecurity Engineer must possess a strong understanding of technology infrastructures, including firewalls, VPNs, data loss prevention (DLP), intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), web proxies, and security auditing. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a wide range of technologies, addressing complex security challenges, and troubleshooting network and security-related issues.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in incident detection, incident response, and digital forensics.
  • Experience administering and securing Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, and Google Workspace environments.
  • Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR), security operations, and threat monitoring platforms such as CrowdStrike, Arctic Wolf, or similar solutions.
  • Experience supporting enterprise wireless and wired networking environments, including Aruba networking solutions.
  • Experience supporting technology in a K-12 educational environment, including one-to-one device initiatives and educational technology platforms, is preferred.
  • Experience with firewalls (configuration, administration, and maintenance), Microsoft 365 Security, VSX, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Proficiency with Powershell.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Current knowledge of cybersecurity trends, threats, and attack techniques.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional IT experience supporting enterprise IT systems and services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and patiently with users of varying technical abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Experience supporting technology in a K-12 educational environment is preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Experienced in making data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while coordinating resources and personnel to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, processes, and best practices, including incident detection and response processes as well as software updating and lifecycle management.
  • Advanced knowledge of security processes within Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Experience administering endpoint protection, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and managed detection and response (MDR) platforms such as CrowdStrike and Arctic Wolf.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and related technology devices.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of IP-based troubleshooting and administration of both wired and wireless networks. Cable tracing experience and extensive network troubleshooting skill is required.
  • Knowledge of physical and software installation and troubleshooting of electronic devices that may be used in administration or school settings.
  • Familiar with server management principles.
  • Experience administering identity and access management (IAM), cloud services, user provisioning, and single sign-on (SSO).
  • General understanding of firewall administration and configurations.
  • Knowledge of the operation and uses of standard test equipment.
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, Windows and Apple operating system environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis in customer service, including experience handling difficult customers and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to identify issues that impact end users and follow through on resolving problems., * Requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.

  • May require assembly or fabrication of parts within arm’s length
  • Must be able to operate machines, motor vehicles or equipment.
  • Frequently requires working in high, precarious places.
  • May be exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally requires exposure to fumes, airborne particles and/or to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic), with onsite work at construction sites.
