Job description

The purpose of the Etching Technician is to ensure customers’ expectations are met through operating a variety of laser systems to engrave, mark and/or cut customer parts. This is done by preparing and cutting materials using laser cutting systems, product cleaning and assembly, and loading and unloading parts as needed. This position is 2nd shift., * Prioritize workload in accordance with production schedule to meet the customer’s demand.

  • Manage production lots that require engraving process.
  • Set up and etch a variety of tools using precision laser-marking systems for proper product identification.
  • Examine etching to ensure that the quality of product marking is consistent with standards and that product markings are clearly visible.
  • Accurately create, update, and maintain a database of tool identification templates for use in the etching process.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment in the etching department before, during, and after every shift.
  • Proactively ensue issues are clearly defined and communicated to other team members and the Production Manager.
  • Follow all company safety protocol to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Attend and actively participate in training classes and safety sessions.
  • Maintain a clean environment in assigned workstation.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency; flexibility in meeting deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent, conforming products
  • Receptive to training and able to learn quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with dynamic requirements and priorities
  • Ability to work productively and accurately within an ERP system
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to operate laser cutting machine
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Window environment

Physical Requirements: Primarily standing work, exerting up to 35 lbs. of force. Primary working while standing, with occasional walking, stooping, crouching, and kneeling; frequent reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, typing, talking-speaking clearly, hearing-conversation, and seeing-near

Work/Environment: Moderate noise level consistent with a manufacturing environment.
