Job description

Lead Sybase ASE discovery, profiling, reverse engineering, and migration assessment activities. Build Sybase dependency inventories, identify dependency chains, assess conversion complexity and remediation effort, use SSMA and AI-augmented discovery accelerators for schema and code analysis, validate AI-generated outputs, support migration planning and data validation activities, and present migration assessments and approaches to client stakeholders., Lead Sybase ASE discovery, profiling, and reverse engineering of schemas, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, triggers, functions, jobs, and database-level dependencies. Own the Sybase to SQL Server migration assessment, including T-SQL compatibility, dynamic SQL, dialect conversion, data-type gaps, and unsupported constructs. Build Sybase dependency inventory across repositories, including direct application connections, batch jobs, ETL pipelines, reports, and web-service data-access layers. Identify primary (App Sybase) and secondary (App Web Service Sybase) dependency chains in partnership with the Integration Architect. Assess conversion complexity, remediation effort, and performance impact across procedures, triggers, and dynamic SQL workloads. Use SSMA and AI-augmented database discovery accelerators within client’s approved LLM environment for schema and code analysis. Validate AI-generated schema, complexity, and lineage outputs through structured SME reviews. Sign off on assessment artifacts. Support data reconciliation, validation strategy, cutover planning, and post-migration data certification design. Present migration complexity, risk heatmaps, and the Sybase to SQL Server migration approach to senior client stakeholders.

12+ years in database engineering.

Deep hands-on SQL Server experience. Good hands-on Sybase ASE experience. Heterogeneous migration experience.
